Title: Stains
Description: A small hand study, painted as part of the series 'Rebirth', reflecting on aging, bodies, becoming and history. I love to paint the body, faces, and hands. One day in the studio I realized I had smeared red oil paint all over my hand, and in the sun it looked like fresh blood. Contemplating how frequently a woman might have blood on her hand through her lifetime for a number of common reasons, as well as blood stains, inspired me to paint this little study. Women have a unique relationship to blood, always connected to life.
